I have a mission: To educate men and women about sex and sexual healing. I have worked as a club and bachelor party Stripper, a Sex Surrogate Therapist and a Sensual Masseuse. I've been on the scene and observed first hand how our culture's mixed-messages about sexuality have hurt many an individual. It's time for me to speak out. You may wonder how and why I took to this path in life. Let's start with a brief look at my beginnings:
I grew up in the inner city of Washington, DC during the rioting civil rights movement of the 60's and early 70's. Being a white minority at that time was practically unheard of and yet, there I was attending a scary and sadistic all-black school from kindergarten to the fifth grade. Ironically, my folks were die-hard liberals and opposed to violence. Somehow, my safety took second to the important issues of the day. My Dad was a big influence in the community as a Presbyterian Minister and organizer of the peace movement: This meant we sang "We Shall Overcome" at half a dozen protests against anything that they saw as taking power from the average person. I remember my excitement at being awakened at 2am in the morning when I was 8 years old to attend a small protest where we handed out donuts and coffee to the grumpy truck drivers delivering their goods to Safeway. The warm drink and sweet food was used as leverage to convince them not to deliver the grapes; the boycotted and forbidden grapes of Cesar Chavez.
I survived the 5 years of that school with no visible scars but without much memory of it either. My adult life has been colored by my body's need to numb itself in order to survive. At twenty-three, I moved to New York City where I encountered Nichiren Buddhism and knew instinctively that it was my life's philosophy. I particularly resonated with the idea of a bloodless human revolution occurring within the life of an individual from practicing daily. I decided that I would, with the support of others, use the practice to transform my reckless tendencies into those that would create value in the world. At the time, I was a stripper and I would chant to create the "Buddha Land" in every club I danced: This meant telling the other dancers and clients about Buddhism as I gyrated hard for as much money as I could make. My life continued to be drawn to sex-related professions and with each job I knew I was in the process of discovering who I was and that I could heal my own wounds.
In 1996 I began working on my life story in the form of a show which resulted in a one-woman performance art piece called "Cock Healer". I co-wrote, produced and performed: This included storytelling, dancing and singing while playing guitar - all on the subject of my experiences working with men as a Stripper, Sex Surrogate Therapist and Sensual Masseuse. I performed "Cock Healer" at HERE Performance Space(1999) and the 78th Street Theater Lab in NYC (2000). I continued my performances at the Brick Playhouse in Philadelpha for the Philadelphia Fringe Festival to sold out audiences (2001) and again independently in 2002.
My father's passionate plea to empower others has always been alive in my heart: I view my life's work in sexual healing, including the sharing of my stories, as a direct response to his philosophy as well as a creative outlet for my talents.
ENJOY!
